Ever since our sweet Mom died in April of last year, my sisters and I have come to appreciate and to love one another more now than ever before. So we decided to go on short trips together in order to spend more time with one another because life is just too short. We have learned that all too well because our oldest sister almost died at the end of last year, as well.

This month one of my sisters suggested that we go to Cantigny Park located in Wheaton, Illinois. If you live in Illinois, or in the vicinity of Illinois, I highly recommend that you consider checking it out –when time allows. Admission is free and they just charge $5.00 for parking. (The parking fee is higher on weekends during the months of May-September –$10.00). You will find well kept grounds with paths that lead through all different types of beautiful flower gardens. You will also find museums there, as well as walking paths, waterfalls, a restaurant, gift shops, a playground, and even a golf course. They also take reservations for weddings, banquets, parties, special events, and more! Here’s the link to their website if you’d like more information: https://cantigny.org/.

Now that school is back in session you will find less people there, and more opportunities to take pictures without getting in anyone’s way or anyone getting in your way either. If you go, make sure that you stop in the Visitor’s Center and ask for a map of the layout of Cantigny Park so that you don’t miss anything that you may be interested in seeing.

My sisters and I were all amazed at the beautiful vibrant colors of the many different variety of flowers that they had there, and we truly appreciated all the effort and hard work that the workers must put in to keep everything looking so beautiful, especially considering the fact that it’s nearing the end of summer and the beauty of many flowers is now fading away!

More than appreciating the hard work of the employees, I was in awe of the beauty that surrounded us: flowers so rich in color and so detailed in design, trees with such unique shapes and leaves, some having arching, curved branches, the beauty of the sky and clouds, etc. They all gave clear evidence of a Designer — the God of the Bible. (Romans 1:18-20, Psalm 19:1-4, Genesis 1)

Due to the fact that there was construction going on in certain parts of the park and because we couldn’t stay beyond 4:00 p.m., we were unable to see everything. I would have loved to have seen the waterfalls that they have there and would definitely have taken hundreds of pictures of them if I did see them! However, Lord willing, we will hopefully all go back there again next year, this time in July since we were told that’s when you’ll see many butterflies! Maybe by then they will almost be finished with their many construction projects making Cantigny Park even more beautiful!

I hope you enjoy looking at some of the many pictures that I took on the special day that I had with my three sweet sisters at Cantigny Park.

Here’s a video that will give you some more information regarding not only the history of Cantigny Park, but also some of the many things that you can see and do there. In this video you will also hear about some of the plans that are now underway for improving the grounds.
