ARTIST STATEMENT

I love capturing the beauty that can be seen in God’s creation and I try to reflect that in all of my artwork. In my photography it can especially be seen through a sunrise or sunset, the intricate close-up details in the design of beautiful flowers, swans as they gracefully glide through rippled water in a pond, butterflies and the amazing colors and patterns on their wings, the moon on a clear, starlit night or cloaked amidst clouds on a somewhat cloudy night, etc.

My love for photography began as a young girl when I was given a Kodak camera by my parents. As the years passed, and my cameras evolved, I enjoyed capturing candid shots and precious moments in the lives of my daughter and son that slip away much too quickly: the first year of their lives, their first tooth, first steps, first haircut, etc.

My creative career began as a floral designer, and I transitioned to silk floral design at the Mount Prospect Hobby Lobby for 13 years. During that time I did some freelance work, as well. I studied art briefly in school, but basically I am a self-taught acrylic artist who likes to express meaningful messages through many of the paintings that I create and name. Creating fluid art is always an exciting adventure because regardless of what colors are used, as the paint flows onto your canvas you always end up with a one-of-a-kind work of art!

In the spring of 2022 I began displaying and selling my artwork and photography at art fairs and craft shows. I enjoy interacting with people on a personal level and creating custom artwork based on their favorite colors and meaningful elements.

Oftentimes I use elements in nature such as feathers, sea shells, and leaves in order to add depth and interest to the paintings that I create. At times I also add glitter or crushed glass to some of them to add an even deeper dimensional quality to them.

I enjoy producing unique jewelry using the dried, non-toxic, colorful and metallic acrylic paint that dries on my art table after creating a painting. I also create crystal teardrop sun catchers using beads that are made from acrylic, glass, metal, precious stones, and volcanic rock. It’s amazing to see the many beautiful rainbows that enliven the walls and floors of your home when the sun hits them at the right angle!

In November of 2024 I decided to go in a different direction with my acrylic art adventure by beginning to create contemporary textured acrylic art, instead of fluid acrylic art. It took a lot of courage to take that step because it meant that I had to rely on becoming more creative and vulnerable. When creating fluid art, the composition almost creates itself. Whereas with contemporary textured acrylic art, it takes more thought and shows more of your heart. I’m happy that I made that decision, and enjoy the freedom I now have in having more control over the outcome of each painting.

Thank you very much for stopping by today!

God Bless You
