JOURNEY OF AN ANT ON A BLEEDING HEART PLANT

Last spring I bought one of my favorite plants to put on my deck — a bleeding heart plant. It grew so tall that one of the branches began to break, so I cut it off and brought it in and put it in a vase so that I could enjoy the beauty of these heart shaped flowers indoors too! Little did I know that there was an ant crawling around on the branch, and when I finally noticed it I grabbed my camera to track its journey up and down the branch. It was rather difficult to do since it was moving rather quickly, so I didn’t take the time to fool around too much with the settings on my camera, but I was able to get a few good shots. I even put some honey on my table as well as on the vase hoping that it would slow the ant down long enough for me to get a good close up shot, but that didn’t work very well. :/

After the ant decided to climb into the vase I didn’t keep my eyes on it for the whole time. At one point it came out of the vase and I found it crawling on my table. In just a matter of seconds it was nowhere to be seen! All I can say is, I’m certainly glad that it wasn’t a large spider, because I never found that ant!

This spring is the first spring that my bleeding heart plant grew back again, and I am so excited! Bleeding hearts are indeed perennial plants, but due to the fact that I live in a condo and do not have a yard so that plants can immerse their roots deep down into the soil, I was very thankful and extremely excited to see the plant that I had bought last spring is now growing back in the large container that I planted it in!

In spite of the situation that we continue to find ourselves in, I pray that all of you will have a safe and wonderful spring! Enjoy the beauty that you see all around you that is there to reveal to all of us that there is a God who created it all: the sun, moon, stars, flowers, trees, birds, butterflies, animals, and His greatest masterpiece of all –mankind!

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is   no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” (Psalm 19:1-4)

“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.” (Romans 1:18-25)

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air. and the fish of the sea, all that swim in the paths of the seas. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8:3-9)

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them they would outnumber the grains of sand!” (Psalm 139:13-18a)
