BEAUTIFUL ORCHID FROM MY SON IS BLOOMING AGAIN!

Orchids have always been exquisitely beautiful and extremely intimidating to me! I have always wanted to purchase one, but I had no idea how to care for these delicate beauties, and I’d feel horrible if I killed it! The instructions that are packed with orchids just say to water them by simply putting three ice cubes on top of the orchid media (sphagnum moss or bark chips) once a week. That just sounded like inadequate and improper care to me!

Well, last July, my sweet son sent me a beautiful deep fuschia-colored phalaenopsis orchid!! Feelings of terror came over me! =O However, this particular orchid was very special to me because my son gave it to me! That motivated me to find out as much as possible about caring for orchids so that I gave it the best chance of surviving –and thriving!!

For those of you who also feel very intimidated regarding caring for orchids, may I suggest that you join the Facebook Group, ‘Orchids For Dummies’ where you will find a lot of very informative and helpful information to guide you in how to care for your orchids, such as: when to repot your orchids, what type of pot is best to use, when and how to properly water your orchids, what to avoid doing in caring for your orchids, how to deal with any possible insect problems, etc.. Another good resource for extremely helpful information is Miss Orchid Girl’s Channel on YouTube!

In order to try and help those of you who are just starting out with orchids, I put the dates on each picture that I added in the slideshow, which is attached to this page, to try and give you an idea of not only how long you may have to wait until your flower spike may begin to grow again, but also how long it may take for your buds to begin to bloom! Times may vary depending upon where you may live, I am sure.

Thank you very much for stopping by today!

God Bless You
